Public Hearing - No recommended Action

During a recent meeting with a potential business, staff noticed that Tire sales, repair and mounting is listed as BOTH a principally permitted use and a conditionally permitted use in the General Services (C-3) Zoning District.  The General Services (C-3) Zoning District is the most intensive business zone in the City’s Zoning Code, allowing all uses permitted in the Neighborhood Business (C-1) and General Business (C-2), plus many others.  Staff feels Tire sales, repair and mounting is an appropriate principally permitted use in this business zone and recommends removing it from the list of conditionally permitted uses.

A public hearing was held on June 6, 2018 by the Planning and Zoning Commission.  The Commission  concurred with the recommended action and voted to approve.  This is the second of two public hearings.

Meeting History

Aug 13, 2018 7:00 PM  City Council Regular Meeting

D.S. Director Lopez advised this was a public hearing to correct the zoning code by removing "tire sales, repair and mounting" from the list of conditionally permitted uses, stating currently this category is under both the (C-3) zoning and the conditional use zoning, and, that there is no need to have this category under conditional uses and go through the whole process of a conditional use request. There being no further comments by the public or Council, Mayor Thompson closed the public hearing at 7:21 p.m.
