Adopt the Resolution approving the IGA 18-0006854-I Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) improvements with Arizona Department Of Transportation for the installation of centerline and shoulder rumble strips on Macrae Road between Woodruff Road and Vah Ki Inn Road and on Woodruff Road between Black Mountain Drive and Macrae Road, for ADOT Project Management and Design Review (PMDR) and Construction Fees and authorize the Mayor to sign the necessary documents.

In December of 2016 the Sun Corridor Metropolitan Planning Organization (Sun Corridor, SCMPO) finalized a strategic comprehensive safety plan.  There were many projects identified and proposed with the intent of reducing fatal and incapacitating injury crashes.  In a Transportation Technical Advisory Committee (TTAC) meeting, it was approved by the TTAC to have each agency submit one project to the Arizona Department of Transportation (ADOT) for consideration to be funded through the Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) grants.  Consequently SCMPO made a request to receive applications for projects for Highway Safety Improvements from agencies within the Sun Corridor region.  A final application is due to SCMPO in September 2018 for a submittal to ADOT by October 2018.

The consultant contracted to complete the strategic safety plan has performed a traffic analysis inclusive of crash data of throughout various parts of the Sun Corridor region and identified major corridors which would benefit from safety improvements.  One of these is located within the City of Coolidge

along Macrae Road and Woodruff Road.  These safety improvements include the installation of edge line and centerline rumble strips on Macrae Road between Vah Ki Inn Road and Woodruff Road and on Woodruff Road between Black Mountain Drive and Macrae Road.

This is a no-match project as all of the funds will be supplied by the Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program (HSIP) funding.  The total amount of the grant is $348,428.00. The City is responsible for all actual costs of the project that exceed $348,428.00.

None, as this is a project fully funded by Federal grants with no local match required.
